1B Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Waterloo are encouraged to participate in Mech Days. Within a day, students are given a problem to solve with a set of constraints and criteria to abide by. The problem was to create a device with a mechanism that transports plastic balls at a certain height and distance. We were limited to resources such as a Tetrix kit, string, tape and cardboard. At the end of the challenge, the students are submitted to a class competition to test different areas of their design. By the end, my group was able to transport 20 plastic balls in-a-row.
